Concrete Countertops in Detroit, Cast to Fit

A concrete countertop is a one-off, cast for your space, not cut from a slab. Detroit Concrete builds indoor counters for kitchens and baths and outdoor counters for bars and kitchens, in the shape, edge and finish you choose, then grinds and seals them to stand up to heat, knives and stains. Every countertop project starts with a free written estimate.

  • Cast to your exact shape and edge
  • Sealed against heat, knives and stains

A one-off build

Why Concrete Countertops Are a Custom Build

A concrete countertop is not a product off a shelf, it is cast for one space. The forms are built to your exact layout, the sink and cooktop cut-outs placed where they actually go, and the edge profile chosen before any concrete is mixed.

That is why an indoor concrete countertop can wrap a kitchen island or a bathroom vanity with no seam in the wrong place, and why an outdoor concrete countertop can be shaped to a built-in grill or bar.

After casting, the surface is ground, honed and sealed so it resists heat, knives and stains. The same finishing skill runs through our concrete floors and outdoor living work.

How it works

How We Cast a Concrete Countertop in Detroit

  1. Template the space

We measure the cabinets or base, template the exact shape, and confirm the edge profile, finish, colour and where cut-outs and seams will fall.

  2. Build the forms

Custom forms are built to that template, with cut-outs blocked out and reinforcement placed so the counter carries its span without cracking.

  3. Cast and cure

The mix is cast, vibrated to remove voids, and cured, either in our shop or in place, depending on the size and the install.

  4. Grind, seal and install

We grind and hone the surface to the finish you chose, seal it against stains and heat, and set it level on the cabinets.

Inside and out

Indoor and Outdoor Concrete Countertops

Most concrete counters fall into two jobs. An indoor concrete countertop goes on kitchen islands, perimeter runs and bathroom vanities, sealed food-safe and honed smooth for daily use.

An outdoor concrete countertop is built tougher for weather and UV, and is the natural surface for a built-in grill station in an outdoor kitchen. Both are cast to fit, so the counter works with the space instead of being trimmed to it.

Common questions

Concrete Countertop Questions, Answered

Casting, finishes, durability and care for concrete countertops in Detroit.

Yes. Every indoor concrete countertop is templated to your exact cabinets and cast in custom forms, with sink and cooktop cut-outs placed where they belong, not trimmed from a stock slab.
Sealed concrete resists stains and heat well and is harder than it looks, but like any counter it is not indestructible. We seal it properly and give you the simple care steps that keep it looking new for years.
Square, eased, bullnose and custom edges, with honed, polished or lightly textured surfaces. We confirm the edge, finish and colour on the template visit so the cast counter matches what you pictured.
Either, depending on size and access. Smaller counters are often cast in our shop and installed finished; larger or wrap-around counters may be cast in place. We confirm which on the estimate.

★★★★★

Cast a concrete island top with no seam where you would notice one. The edge profile is exactly what we picked and it has shrugged off everything the kitchen throws at it.

Outdoor bar counter for our grill station. Built tougher for the weather, and a full year outside later it still looks the day it was sealed.

They templated the vanity properly so the counter dropped in level first try. Honed finish feels great and the sealer has held up to daily use.

Loved that it was cast to our space, not cut to fit. The cooktop cut-out landed exactly where it should and the colour matches the floor.
