When Foundation Repair Stops the Shift
Basement walls that bow inward, corners that settle, or horizontal cracks spreading across concrete all signal that the foundation is under stress. Detroit Concrete identifies what is pushing or pulling the slab, then rebuilds it to resist that load. Structural reinforcement, underpinning for weak footings, and paired waterproofing work together to stop movement and restore stability. Start with a free assessment.

Symptoms vs. root cause
Why Concrete Foundation Repair Starts with Diagnosis
A wall leaning inward, a floor that slopes toward one corner, horizontal cracks running across the basement, these are all visible signs. But they are not the problem itself. The problem is what created them: water pressure from outside, a footing that was never deep enough, or concrete that lacks the reinforcement to carry the load above.
We assess the site, the cracks, the wall movement, and the soil conditions to determine which of these is at work. Filling a crack without addressing the water pressure that opened it is temporary. Reinforcing a wall without extending a failed footing is incomplete. Crack sealing handles surface issues; structural repair handles the load itself.
Once we know the cause, the fix becomes clear. Underpinning extends a footing. Rebar and concrete reinforce a wall. Waterproofing and drainage stop water from returning. The free assessment gives you that clarity before any work begins.
The repair sequence
How Detroit Concrete Repairs Failing Foundations
-
Assess the failure mode
We examine cracks, wall tilt, interior signs like sticking doors, and exterior soil conditions to determine whether water, footing failure, or load is the culprit.
-
Expose the affected slab
Excavation opens the foundation to the depth and width of the problem, confirming what we see and what needs to be fixed before we specify the repair.
-
Reinforce and rebuild
Structural repair adds rebar and concrete to strengthen the wall, underpinning extends a footing, or crack injection seals structural cracks with structural-grade material.
-
Waterproof and backfill
The repaired area gets waterproofing applied, drainage is installed or upgraded, and backfill is placed carefully to avoid loading the concrete before it cures.
Repair and waterproofing go together
Why Waterproofing Pairs with Structural Repair
Most foundation failures have water involved. Either water pressure from outside pushed the wall in, or water got in and froze, or water weakened the concrete. Fixing the structure without stopping the water means the same failure will happen again in a few years.
We pair foundation waterproofing with every structural repair. Drainage upgrades, exterior sealant, and weeping tile all work together to keep groundwater away from the repaired concrete. Crack repair handles smaller surface cracks. Underpinning handles footings that are too shallow or too narrow.

Foundation Repair Questions, Answered
Diagnosis, structural repair, waterproofing pairing and underpinning for failing foundations in Detroit.
Diagnosed the cause as water pressure plus an undersized weeping tile. Fixed the drainage and the wall. Two springs since with no recurrence. Repair, not patch.
Bowing basement wall properly reinforced and the soil pressure addressed outside. Wall is straight, basement is dry, the house feels solid again.
Honest that part of the foundation needed underpinning, not just repair. Did both as needed, explained exactly why. No upsell, just the right fix.
Sticking doors went back to working normally after the repair settled. They had explained why that would happen and it did. Confidence inspiring.
