Industrial SikaFloor Systems for Detroit Facilities

When a warehouse floor needs to stand up to forklifts and chemical spills, or a manufacturing zone requires ESD protection, the concrete slab is only the start. SikaFloor epoxy, urethane, and self-leveling systems from Sika deliver the engineered topping that matches the actual facility demand. Detroit Concrete installs SikaFloor as a certified Sika-system specialist, selecting the right product family and executing the prep and application sequence that makes the system perform. Every project includes a free written estimate and firm schedule.

Product ecosystem

How SikaFloor Systems Layer

SikaFloor is not a single product but a family of systems, each engineered for a specific facility condition. SikaTop self-leveling underlayments flatten slabs before finish coatings go down, correcting minor surface irregularities that would otherwise telegraph through the topcoat. SikaFloor epoxy and polyurethane toppings then provide the wear surface, chemical barrier, and slip resistance the facility needs.

The system choice depends on what the floor must endure. A warehouse with forklift traffic and occasional oil spills needs different chemistry than a food processing plant with daily washdown and caustic exposure, which differs again from an electronics assembly zone requiring static dissipation. We assess the actual facility conditions, then specify the matched SikaFloor system and execute the install per Sika's technical requirements.

Integrate with Sika waterproofing for slab moisture control, Sika repair for substrate preparation, and our warehouse flooring and manufacturing floor services for the broader facility program.

Installation sequence

How SikaFloor Gets Installed

  1. Assess facility use and slab

We walk the zone, understand the traffic pattern (forklift, foot, equipment), chemical exposure (oils, caustics, food residue), and any specialty needs (ESD, anti-slip, cove base). The slab is evaluated for flatness, moisture, and existing coating condition.

  2. Specify the matched system

Based on the assessment, we select the SikaFloor product family: epoxy for general industrial, polyurethane for chemical resistance, conductive SikaFloor for ESD zones, or SikaTop self-leveling if the slab needs flatness correction first.

  3. Prepare and prime the slab

The concrete is diamond-ground to the profile required by the chosen SikaFloor system, old coatings and contaminants removed, cracks repaired with Sika-compatible materials, and the surface primed with the matched Sika primer per spec.

  4. Apply SikaFloor in layers

The system is applied in sequence: primer, body coat, aggregate broadcast for slip resistance if required, and topcoat at the engineered thickness. Each layer cures per Sika spec before the next is applied, and the finished floor is documented for warranty.

System selection

Why System Match Determines Performance

A SikaFloor epoxy rated for light industrial traffic will fail in a warehouse with heavy forklift use. A urethane system engineered for chemical resistance may lack the hardness needed for abrasion. The system must match the facility's actual conditions, not a generic assumption. This is where the Sika-system installer's knowledge matters: we know the SikaFloor range, we understand the facility demands, and we make the match that delivers durability.

Once the system is selected, the install discipline is equally critical. Sika's system warranty covers both the product and the installation method. Shortcuts in prep, primer application, or cure time void the warranty and compromise performance. We execute every SikaFloor install to Sika's technical specification, and we document the work so your facility has the warranty support it needs.

Common questions

SikaFloor Questions, Answered

System selection, ESD, chemical resistance, warranty and facility match.

Based on the use, traffic, chemical exposure, and any specialty requirements (ESD, food-grade, anti-slip). We confirm the actual conditions during the assessment and recommend the matched system from the Sika range.
Yes, with the conductive/dissipative SikaFloor systems engineered for ESD-sensitive electronics manufacturing and clean rooms. The resistance range is verified after install.
Yes, Sika has urethane cement systems with cove base integration for USDA/CFIA-compliant food processing floors. Cross-reference with our food-grade epoxy flooring service.
Yes when installed by a Sika-system installer to Sika spec. System warranty extends beyond product to install integrity, which is what commercial customers actually need.
Per zone, typically a week including cure before service. Larger facility-wide projects stretch with phased install. Schedule is in the quote.
