System selection

Choosing the Right MasterTop Epoxy or Urethane

A warehouse floor sees different demands than a food processing plant. MasterTop offers standard epoxy for moderate traffic and light chemical exposure, high-build epoxy for heavy forklift use, and urethane cement for freezer zones, chemical bays, and thermal shock. The slab gets assessed on-site, and the system is matched to what the floor will actually encounter.

Installation follows BASF spec: substrate prep to profile, primer application, body coat at engineered thickness, topcoat, and cure documentation. This is not a generic epoxy job. The system warranty depends on this protocol being followed exactly, which is why we treat it as non-negotiable.

Our chemical-resistant flooring work often uses MasterTop, and we coordinate with MasterSeal waterproofing when substrate moisture is a factor. See our full BASF service range and warehouse floor coating options.

Installation sequence

How MasterTop Installation Unfolds in Detroit

  1. Assess facility and select system

We walk the space, understand the use (manufacturing, distribution, food processing, retail), traffic patterns, chemical exposure, and temperature cycling. The right MasterTop system is selected from the BASF range.

  2. Prepare the concrete slab

Diamond grinding to BASF profile, removal of contaminants and old coatings, crack repair with BASF-compatible materials, and surface cleaning. The slab is primed with the matched MasterTop primer.

  3. Apply MasterTop system layers

Body coat is applied at engineered thickness, aggregate broadcast where specified, and topcoat applied per system. Each layer cures per BASF schedule before the next begins.

  4. Document and hand off

Material batch records, application thickness documentation, and cure schedule are compiled for BASF system warranty support. The floor is ready for service with maintenance protocol provided.

Warranty backing

Why System Warranty Matters More Than Product Warranty

A product warranty covers the material. A system warranty covers the material plus the installation. MasterTop system warranty is only valid when installed by a BASF-system installer following BASF spec on prep, primer, thickness, and cure. Cutting corners on any step voids the warranty. We follow the protocol because that is what makes the warranty real and protects your facility investment.

Operating facilities can be phased: each zone is offline during install and cure, with operations routed around the work area. Phasing is planned at the quote stage so your production schedule is respected. See our industrial concrete services, other BASF products, and warehouse floor options.

Based on the facility use: traffic load, chemical exposure, thermal cycling, slip rating, decorative requirements. We assess the actual conditions and recommend the matched system from the BASF range.
Yes, for severe environments (food processing, breweries, freezer floors, chemical-aggressive zones) MasterTop has urethane cement formulations. Standard epoxy MasterTop handles moderate environments.
Yes when installed to BASF spec by a BASF-system installer. System warranty extends beyond product to install integrity, which is the value over generic product warranty.
Yes, by zone-phased install. Each zone is offline during install and cure with operations routed around the work zone. Phasing is built around your operations from quote stage.
Per zone, typically a week including cure before service. Facility-wide projects stretch with phased install. Full schedule in the quote.
