Volumetric also works for remote sites where standard truck wait times would set the concrete before placement, and for small specialty pours where a full standard load is overkill. The on-site mixer can also adjust mix design on the fly within calibrated ranges, useful when the placement crew calls for a different slump than initially ordered.

Volumetric is not the right answer for every pour. For high-volume pours where rotation of standard trucks delivers more total yards per hour, standard ready mix is faster.
